Emergency care had to be given to someone at a home in Maidenhead after their kitchen caught fire yesterday afternoon.

At 12.19pm on Monday, October 6, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire on Hungerford Drive.

Crews from Maidenhead and Slough fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside two officers (dispatched for more serious or complex incidents) and one crew from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Upon arrival, crews found a kitchen fire. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus rescued two people from the property and used one hose reel to put out the fire.

Firefighters gave immediate emergency care to one person and placed them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service. Crews also used a ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property.

They were on scene for about an hour and 10 minutes.
