40 years of fun and learning were celebrated at Lent Rise Combined School in Burnham.
A fun day was held on Saturday including tree planting and developing the school's sustainable garden, a circus, tug of war and the choir performing.
The fire service and police came along and there were stalls, tombolas and games.
Headteacher Jill Watson said: "It is a special event for the birthday celebrations.
"A fun day for the children and for the community to celebrate 40 years of the school.
"We are looking forward to the 50th anniversary celebrations."
The school in Coulson Way first opened its doors on April 30, 1973.
It was then called Lent Rise County Primary School.
There were 277 children and nine teachers and the first headteacher was John Tyler.
Mr Tyler was headteacher for 10 years until 1983 when Paul Grandidge took the helm, also serving 10 years, and then Brenda Bigland was headteacher for even longer - from 1994 to 2011.
Mrs Watson is now in charge and the school has 420 pupils and 18 teachers.
To celebrate the anniversary, pupils have been doing lots of activities including learning about the history of their school and writing poetry about Lent Rise and creating and performing a 40th anniversary song.
