Talented teen sings her way to final stages of UK competition

A talented teen has made it through to the final stages of a national talent competition.

Melaine Mohanadas, from Farnham Royal in Slough, has reached the regional finals of TeenStar, a music competition for teens and pre-teens.

The Burnham Grammar School pupil started singing at the age of 11 and plays piano and guitar.

The 13-year-old, who enjoys singing pop and R&B songs, said: "I was really proud of myself because it was my first audition and I never thought I was going to make it through.

"There were lots of other candidates who were really good and they didn’t get through, so I thought that I had no chance of making it through.”

The former St Marys Farnham Royal CE Primary School pupil will perform in the regional final in Hayes on Saturday, March 16.

She will be in the running to compete for a place in the national final at The O2 in London.
