UPDATE: Tesco Express in Burnham High Street shut by police following armed robbery

The Tesco Express in Burnham High Street has been closed by police today as it investigates an armed robbery that took place last night.

Three men entered the store armed with crowbars and stole cash and cigarettes.

The store was closing at the time of the break-in, though no exact time has been given by police.

No one was injured.

Thames Valley Police is investigating and said there are no current suspects but there is good CCTV footage it hopes to use.

The store has been cordened off until further notice.

Update 2.22pm:

The men wearing ski masks entered the shop at about 10.45pm and verbally threatened the staff whilst wielding a sledgehammer and a crowbar.

No one was injured.

A large quantity of cigarettes and a sum of cash were stolen.

A getaway car was waiting for them outside the High Street store that was being driven by a fourth person. The car has been described as a dark coloured Subaru Impreza estate.

Sergeant Dan Mckenzie said: “I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.

“I would like to reassure the local community that a thorough investigation is underway.”
