The team of year 11s called Team Outbreak, from the Hogfair Lane school, won the top prize and are now through to the national finals in Loughborough in February.
The team is made up of Adnan Siddiquei, Gagndeep Singh, Payas Sinha, Aaron Hickman, Seetal Mathuru and Callum Wilding.
Burnham Grammar also entered a second team called Recycled Trevor, made up of sisters Aakifah, Aishah and Israa Sadiq. They came in third place and won the Best Presentation award.
Bob Miles, who runs the school’s science club, said: “Hard work during half term holidays and sessions before and after school really paid off.
“I am exceptionally proud not only of the result but the commitment of both our teams.”
