Burnham Grammar pupils raise £1,300 for charities

Two days of fundraising at Burnham Grammar School raised hundreds of pounds for two good causes.

Pupils at the Hogfair Lane school began their activities on Thursday by paying to wear 'hoodies for Haiyan' in support of typhoon victims in the Philippines.

On Friday they continued their charitable activities for BBC Children in Need.

The school's Interact club sold doughnuts throughout the school and loose change was collected from staff and students to create a 'make a change' Pudsey mosaic.

The school also held a non-uniform day to collect cash.

A total of about £1,300 was raised, which will be split between the two causes.

Learning resources co-ordinator, Emily Russell, said: "It was great.

"There were lots of different activities and everybody was really enthusiastic."
