Following the disappointment of the senior side losing their Premier Division Cup final, Flackwell Heath u18s gave supporters something to cheer about as they lifted the Allied Counties Youth League Challenge Cup after a victory over North Greenford United.

Thanks to goals from Jack Timberlake and Cody McCarthy, the young Heathens won 2-0 at Ascot United's Racecourse Ground on Sunday afternoon.

It was a stellar performance from start to finish, with the trophy adding some gloss to the side’s fourth-place finish in the Allied Counties Youth League North Division.

At the full-time whistle, a tweet from the club read: “There it is. Started the season with two, built a young side, learnt a lot and got our rewards.

“What a great group of lads. Never say die attitude, dug in, football wasn’t always pretty, but we earned it. Well done boys.

“A massive thank you to everyone that travelled over to watch in the rain, our fans have been unreal all season, best fans at this level. And a big thank you to our committee who backed us and support us at games!”

North Greenford tweeted their praise, adding: “Your lads defensively were awesome – well done for taking the trophy.

“Poor finishing cost us in the end I think, but if you don’t take the chances you create, you don’t win games.

“Thanks to Ascot United for hosting and finally top marks to the referee. Thought he was excellent.”
