Maidenhead United Women return to action tonight against Chesham United

Maidenhead United Women return to action at York Road tonight with an FA Women’s National League fixture under the floodlights against local rivals Chesham United.

Ryan Taylor’s side most recently defeated Exeter City, 1-0, thanks to Simone O’Brien’s wonderful strike in the 65th minute.

The victory is the Magpies’ fourth of the season and lifts them into fourth in the table.

This evening’s opposition, meanwhile, sit in seventh place but have numerous games in hand over the top five. They come into this clash on the back of a 2-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth.

Admission to the match is £3 or £2 concessions. The tea bar will be open and a free printed programme is available.

Kickoff is at 7.45pm.

Maidenhead United Women manager Ryan Taylor has bolstered his squad with the signing of Izzy Davis.

The 24-year-old midfielder previously played with Reading Academy prior to spells with Caversham United and Woodley United.

In the club’s matchday programme, Davis said: “I have found everyone so welcoming and the standard to be great so I am excited to get started.

“I’m a central attacking midfielder. My main strengths are work ethic, physicality, decision-making, considerate in possession and end-product.”

Taylor added: “She’s just coming back from a long lay-off due to injury. But I have been impressed with how she’s trained during the past few weeks.

“She’s an energetic player and wants to get on the ball and drive at players and will be an excellent addition to our squad.

“Having played at youth level with Reading with several of our squad, she’s around familiar faces and she’s fitted in perfectly with our group.”
