Runners from Maidenhead Athletics Club put in impressive performances in the Autumn sunshine across two events in Wendover and London last weekend.
Sayeed Islam took on the undulating and hilly terrain at the Wendover Autumn Festival of Running for a trail half-marathon.
Sayeed completed the race in a time of 02:02:09, aided by some very good snacks on the way round.
“The views were a great distraction to keep my mind off the gradient but having said that, you have to concentrate hard as the terrain is rough and technical,” he said.
“I love trail running as there is no pressure with timing. The marshals are very friendly; the course is well marked; and the feed stations are full of good snacks.
“It should be on your to-do list if you like trail running. There are multiple distances on offer such as a 10k route, half marathon and marathon.
“I was nearly tempted with the longer distance, but my common sense prevailed.”
Chad and Janet Fitzgibbon found the Hampton Court 10k equally enjoyable.
The stunning route which encompasses the River Thames and the Court grounds provided a mostly flat course.
Chad finished in 51:45, placing him 333rd overall out of 2100 runners, whilst Janet was the 184th female to cross the line in a time of 55:35.
W Top national and possibly some international athletes are expected to compete in the Berkshire Cross Country Championships, which are due to take place at Copas Fruit Farms in Cookham on Sunday, December 19.
