Maidenhead’s double Olympic champion, Tom Dean, is competing in the International Swimming League (ISL) play-offs in Eindhoven this month, with the races broadcast on the BBC.
Dean swept to Olympic glory earlier this summer when he won the 200m freestyle Olympic title from teammate Duncan Scott, who is also competing.
The play-offs got underway last Thursday, and racing takes place every Thursday to Sunday until November 28 (6pm-8pm). The finals take place on Friday, December 3, and Saturday, December 4 (6pm-8pm).
Dean, Scott, and Freya Anderson will race for London Roar alongside other international stars. Eight teams will take part in the play-offs, with four qualifying for the final in December. The ISL features some of the world’s fastest swimmers competing for points for their team, with the US seven-time Olympic champion Caeleb Dressel, of the Cali Condors, setting records in the 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle in previous ISL seasons.
Each team has at least 12 men and 12 women, with two athletes from each team competing in every race.
London Roar were in third place going into the play-offs on 13 points, trailing the Cali Condors (15) and Energy Standard (16).
All the matches will be shown live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
