Maidenhead United Women’s left back Megan Halfacree has been named the best young female player in the county by the Football in Berkshire (FIB) awards.
The 21-year-old, who made 11 starts for the club last season, was praised for her composed and assured performances for the Magpies.
Others to receive awards from the website were Holyport striker Fabian Driffill, whose goals helped the side into the top four of the Hellenic League Division 1 East.
He was named the player of the season (male). The FIB website said: “Year on year he has developed and taken the opportunity to improve his all round play and work ethic. Rarely misses a game which is some effort considering he is targeted during most games.”
Slough Town forward Dan Roberts picked up the young player of the year award (male). Roberts netted 10 goals for the Rebels in his first full season after moving from Windsor FC.
On Twitter Roberts said: “Thank you Football in Berkshire. Nice way to round off the season with another award. This time young player of the year. It’s been another really positive season for myself and I can’t wait to see what the next one holds.”
Ascot United boss Jamie Tompkins was named manager of the year, after a season which saw the Yellamen flying high at the top of the Combined Counties Premier Division.
Their hopes of promotion were thwarted however when the season was declared null and void after being cancelled due to COVID-19.
