After 10 seasons with the club Maidenhead United Women’s keeper Ellie Parker is to switch to the Magpies league rivals Southampton Women’s FC.
Parker has been a key player for the Magpies during the past decade and a popular character both on and off the field. Her performances between the sticks have regularly helped the side to victories and she’s been the thorn in the side of many a penalty taker.
Ellie was part of the United side which won the Southern Regional Women’s Football Premier Division in 2014/15, thus earning the Magpies promotion to the FA Women’s National League South West where they’ve been ever since.
Last week she thanked her teammates for the ‘unbelievable’ support they’ve shown her as she looks to take on a new challenge. She has made 197 appearances for the Magpies during her time at the club and will prove very difficult to replace.
“I can’t thank them enough for their kind words and support for me heading into a new challenge,” she said. “I’ll see you all again in the new season.”
Sophie Modak and Anika Stiepecke are also moving onto pastures new this summer, as is Wales u17s international Kate La Cumbre who is returning to her parent club after coming to United on loan last season.
Maidenhead has wished all of the players the very best for their future careers.
