Chennells hits four in Windsor rout
Windsor FC cruised to a comfortable 7-0 success against a woeful Cove outfit at Stag Meadow this afternoon.
Michael Chennells hit four in the rout, taking his tally to 19 since his return to the club, while Jake Parsons, Andrew Fagan and Ben Harris completed the scoring.
Cove weren't helped by the early dismissal of skipper Liam Eagles but, even with 11 men, the result wouldn't have been much different.
After a slow start to the game Windsor broke the deadlock in controversial circumstance just before the half hour mark.
Chennells burst clear and, under pressure from Eagles, he fell to the ground and the referee awarded a penalty and sent off the Cove captain.
Infuriated by the decision, Cove manager Dean Thomas was also sent off after swearing at the match officials.
Chennells made no mistake with the penalty and the Windsor striker doubled his tally four minutes before the break with a calm finish after rounding keeper Luke Edgcombe.
The home side dominated the second half and could have scored far more than the five they did register.
Chennells completed his hat-trick with a left footed finish on 51 minutes and smashed home a fourth moments later after Cove had failed to deal with a corner.
Parsons curled home a fifth on the hour mark and, after Harris and Leeyon Phelan had both struck the woodwork, Fagan swept home the sixth.
Harris then rounded off a comfortable day's work for Windsor in injury time when he rifled home a fine seventh into the top corner.
Keith Scott's side are now nine points behind leaders Guildford City in the Combined Counties Premier Division after they lost 3-1 at home to Egham Town.
