Burnham FC boss: We need more firepower
Martin Stone has set himself the target of finding some goal scorers for Burnham next season as he believes this is his team’s Achilles heel.
The Blues boss has known this all season, but the 0-0 draw with bottom-placed Marlow on Monday underlined the predicament.
He said: “Our Achilles heel has been scoring goals.
“Our aim is to be in the top six and to do that you need to be scoring 80-odd goals.
“We’re 35 short of that at the moment, so it’s something I will have to look at during the summer.”
He added: “Marlow set themselves up 4-5-1.
“We battered them, but could not score.
“Our keeper did not really have a shot to save, although Marlow showed some promise at the end.
“If they had scored, I think I would have hung myself. Kieran Knight had a shot from four yards which hit a player, Lee Togwell missed from six yards, the chances went on and on.”
The Blues’ next chance to find the back of the net comes at Woodford United on Saturday.
