Mark Nisbet had to go in goal for Maidenhead United.

Maidenhead United FC came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Thurrock in a Blue Square South game which saw defender Mark Nisbet play in goal for almost 50 minutes.

Magpies keeper Billy Lumley suffered a head injury midway through the first half and despite playing on for a bit, he eventually had to leave the field.

With no substitute keeper on the bench, centre-back Nisbet donned the gloves and was beaten before the break by a superb free-kick from Ahmed Dean.

But Maidenhead rallied after the interval and snatched a deserved equaliser when Manny Williams fired home from close range after Alex Wall's shot had been saved.

Thurrock, who are without a home league win all season, pushed forward in search of a winner but United and Nisbet held firm to earn a point.

In the Southern Central Division, leaders Slough Town were left frustrated as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to AFC Hayes.

The game saw Lloyd Owusu make his debut following his return to the Rebels but he couldn't mark it with a goal despite having two good chances.

Slough looked to snatched a last gasp win when Ben Abbey prodded them in front in the first minute of injury time but Hayes levelled through Dominic Rhone's penalty moments later.

The draw didn't turn out to be to bad a result for the Rebels, however, as second placed St Neots were held to a 3-3 draw with Burnham.

Will Hendry put the Blues in front early on but Ben Mackey levelled and then put the hosts a head with a second just after the interval.

Dan Willment equalised for Burnham but Mackey looked to have earned St Neots maximum points when he completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time.

Lewis Driver had other ideas, however, and earned Martin Stone's side a point with the final goal of the game seven minutes from time.

Marlow lost their crucial bottom of the table clash against North Greenford United 4-2 at Oak Tree Road.

Kevin Stone's side were 4-0 down at 75 minutes before goals from Jon Case and Adam Harman reduced the deficit.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Windsor's title bid took a severe dent as they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at second from bottom Chessington & Hook.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Windsor levelled through Ben Porter 10 minutes from time but Nick White won it for the hosts with a goal three minutes into stoppage time.

In the Hellenic Premier Division, Holyport fell to a 2-1 home defeat despite Lee Jerrum's goal while Flackwell Heath were beaten 1-0 at Slimbridge.

In the Reading Senior Division, Cookham Dean enjoyed a convincing 4-0 win against Unity while Marlow United lost 2-1 against South Reading and Taplow United were beaten 6-0 at Woodcote Stoke Row.

In the Championship, Jason Roberts scored the only goal of the game as Reading secured a hard earned 1-0 win against Burnley at the Madejski Stadium.

Wycombe meanwhile suffered their third defeat in a row in League 1 as  they lost 2-0 at Walsall.
