Magpies striker Wall to pay a heavy price
Fed up Magpies boss Johnson Hippolyte says Alex Wall will be ‘hammered’ by the club following his red card shame during United’s 4-0 home defeat against Welling on Tuesday night.
Wall was dismissed for the second time this season for stamping on a Welling player early in the second half with the home side trailing 2-0.
The visitors went on to score two more and Wall, who was about to serve a two game ban for amassing 10 bookings, will now miss five of Maidenhead’s final seven games of the campaign.
Hippolyte said:“Alex is going to get hammered. He is going to get the maximum fine we can give him.
“I’ve let him know in no uncertain terms how disappointed I am.
“He’s let me down, himself down and his team-mates down.
“That’s his season over now just as we really need him.”
Although it was Wall that saw red on Tuesday, a lack of discipline is something that has plagued United at times this season.
Just last week Reece Tison-Lascaris was sent off for lashing out during the draw with Dartford and he will now start a three-game ban.
Hippolyte admits the topic has been discussed and the club are now beginning to take firm action in a bid to sort it out.
He said:“I think the disciplinary record has been shocking. Peter (Griffin - Magpies chairman) and I have had a conversation about it.
“We’ve had fines for a while now but we’ve upped them.
“As most of the lads are young we’ve let them get a away with it a bit, but now the gloves are off and we’re hitting them in the pocket."
