Walkers will be dusting off their boots as they prepare for the annual Thames Valley Adventure Playground sponsored walk. The fundraiser, which will this year form part of the Bath Road playground's 30th anniversary celebrations, takes place today. Participants can walk five or 10 miles in aid of the Taplow centre for adults and children with special needs.
Plans for more than 50 new homes in Taplow look set to go ahead after they were approved in principle yesterday. Slough Borough Council's planning committee discussed Taylor Wimpey's plans to build 52 houses and two flats at the former Wyeth Pharmaceuticals site in Huntercombe Lane South. The application was delegated to the head of planning policy and projects for completion of details relating to developer contributions, known as section 106 money.
'Difficult' times lay ahead for Taplow, according to the new chairman of the parish council. George Sandy, of Taplow High Street, was appointed unanimously by councillors at a meeting on Tuesday last week. A headteacher says 'exciting times' lie ahead for a Taplow school that has become an academy. St Nicolas CE Combined School converted to academy status on Tuesday last week following a consultation period with parents and staff. Headteacher Lorraine Sutherland said the decision had been 'unanimous'. A teenage motorcyclist was injured in an accident in Bath Road this morning. The 19-year-old male came off his motorbike after a collision with a car near the corner of River Road, Taplow. An ambulance was called at 8:56am and he was taken to Wexham Park Hospital with a suspected ankle injury.
