Dogs fall in to frozen lake

gen fireengineTwo dogs fell through the ice at Dorney Lake.

Fire crews from Langley, Slough and Beaconsfield, as well as the water safety unit from Beaconsfield, were called out to a dog unaccounted for in the frozen lake in Court Lane, Dorney, at 12.20pm yesterday.

Firefighters carried out a search but were unable to find the dog.

Then just hours later, at 2.06pm, crews from Maidenhead, High Wycombe, Gerrards Cross, and the water safety unit, were called back to Dorney Lake where another dog had fallen through the ice.

Firefighters carried out a search and recovered the dog's body.

Chris Havers, green watch manager at Maidenhead, said: "With the weather still cold please know where your children are playing and know where your animals are.

"Once they get in that water their chances are really slim because it is really cold."
