A no-fly zone will be in force over Dorney for the Olympics. London 2012 rowing takes place at Dorney Lake this summer and about 30,000 people are expected to flock to the Eton College-owned site per day. The Home Office confirmed there will be air space restrictions over both the Court Lane venue and Royal Holloway in Egham, where the athletes will be staying during the Games.

Dorney Village Hall

A council tax hike to pay for the refurbishment of Dorney Village Hall has been narrowly approved. Dorney Parish Council received 243 returned questionnaires, which had asked 607 villagers whether they supported an annual increase in the parish precept of between £60.96 (Band H) and £20.28 (Band A) to help fund the £350,000 plans. Votes in favour totalled 125, while 118 were against, it was announced at a parish council meeting yesterday.

Dorney Village Hall

Villagers have had their say on contentious plans for a hike in council tax to pay for the refurbishment of Dorney Village Hall. Dorney Parish Council sent questionnaires to 607 residents at 297 households in the village asking whether they supported an increase in the parish precept to help fund the £350,000 plans. A deadline for returned forms passed on Monday and the results will be counted and presented to the council at a meeting on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old woman died in a car crash on the M40 in Buckinghamshire. At 11.51am on Wednesday, a crash occurred involving a yellow Ford Ka and a grey Honda Accord on the northbound carriageway of the M40 between junctions 1a and 2, at Hedgerley.
