Nine-year-old's lost cat found after two years

A schoolboy is over the moon after being reunited with his beloved pet cat - who disappeared without a trace in 2010.

Iliyas Tarafi was 'stunned' to find skinny and dirty Rougie curled up under a neighbour's bush on Saturday.

The nine-year-old who attends St Peter's CE Middle School in Crimp Hill Road, Old Windsor, had spent hours before and after school and almost every weekend searching for his best mate.

"I had given up hope he was ever going to come home," said the delighted Arsenal fan, who lives with his parents and four siblings in Bridlington Spur, Cippenham.

The ginger cat, who is just one month older than Iliyas, wolfed down four sachets of pet food on his return and took two hours to wash clean.

Remarkably, he has since been given a clean bill of health from a vet.
