DJ Unkar Singh's former school pays tribute to him following sudden death
Tributes have been paid by the former headteacher of a 'smiley' up-and-coming DJ who collapsed and died days before his brother's wedding.
Unkar Singh, 25, of Warrington Avenue, Slough, died on Tuesday, February 15, while in India to see brother Aman Singh get married.
The former pupil of Slough's Westgate School, also known as DJ Unkz of Kudos Music, had been out celebrating in Punjab and was found ill on Valentine's Day. He was taken to hospital, where he lapsed into a coma and died the next day.
Roger Thomas, headteacher of Westgate School, said: "We're all very sad and we were shocked when we found out. He was a nice kid, well behaved and with a sense of fun."
Unkar attended the Cippenham Lane school from 1997-2002. He was himself due to marry his fiancee, Sheetal Kashyap, next year.
Mr Thomas added: "Unkar was a smiley, happy lad and was popular with other students and teachers.
"When I saw a photo of him recently I saw a delightful, good-looking young man and it is just so sad and awful for the family."
Unkar's colleagues at Kudos Music in Slough have set up a website in memory of their friend. Nearly 400 people have paid tribute to Unkar Singh.
