A national award was presented to Lent Rise Combined School on Thursday for its work in supporting pupils who suffer from epilepsy. The school in Coulson Way, Burnham, was chosen as the winner of the Epilepsy Action award, known as an 'Edward', after being nominated by 10-year-old Megan Akehurst, who suffers from the condition. She said: "I am so pleased the school has won an Edward.

Walkers will be dusting off their boots as they prepare for the annual Thames Valley Adventure Playground sponsored walk. The fundraiser, which will this year form part of the Bath Road playground's 30th anniversary celebrations, takes place today. Engineering pupils at a Slough school are hoping for some help to get on track in a car racing competition. A team of six 17-18 year olds from Slough and Eton CE Business and Enterprise College are trying to compete in Greenpower's national engineering contest, but are lacking financial backing. The new headteacher of Desborough School in Maidenhead has pledged to make the school a 'beacon of excellence.'
