Volunteers needed for Twyford litter pick

A 'Love Your Neighbourhood' community litter pick will be held in Twyford on Sunday.

Volunteers are being encouraged to take part in the borough-wide intiative which is now in its fourth year.

They will be meet at the Loddon Hall car park from 10am.

Thousands of people across the borough will take part in litter picks in villages including Sonning, Wargrave and Hurst.

Last year more than 600 bags of rubbish were filled and stranger items ranged from stolen number plates to a pilot’s flight case.

Cllr Gary Cowan, executive member for environment, said: "Wokingham borough is a beautiful place but can occasionally, in certain areas, be spoilt by rubbish.

"The litter pick is a great chance for residents, to make the borough a cleaner and brighter place to live and to give the community a sense of civic pride as well as raising awareness that litter is unacceptable."
